Apache JMeter is an open source application built in Java. It is majorly used for load & performance testing of web applications. It can simulate heavy load on server, group of servers, network to test its strength, or to analyze overall performance under concurrent load.
JMeter has a support different protocols.
HTTP, HTTPS, SOAP, FTP, JDBC, LDAP, JMS, SMTP, POP3, TCP etc.
Although JMeter looks like a browser but it is not a browser. It does not render the HTML pages like a browser. Also, It does not execute javascript in a web page.
